Greg Murphy Racing Australia Pty Ltd (GMR) was established in 1997 and for the past thirteen years has specialized in the preparation and race management of vehicles.
From 1997 until 2002 GMR contested in Australia’s premier open wheel class, Formula 4000. Winning the 2001 and 2002 CAMS Sliver Star Championship and also taken out seven race wins and finishing with a pair of thirds and fourth in the coveted CAMS Gold Star Championship. GMR drivers included: Greg Murphy, Mark Noske, Todd Kelly, Rick Kelly, Simon Wills, Peter Hill, Roger Oakeshott and Tim Leahey.
In 2003 GMR moved into the new national support category for the V8 Supercars – The Carrera Cup Series. Since then GMR has enjoyed 2 Championship wins with Alex Davison in 2004 and Fabian Coulthard in 2005. Past GMR drivers include Roger Oakeshott, Tim Leahey, Fabian Coulthard, Alex Davison, Ian Dyk, Alan Gurr, Anthony Tratt, Jono Lester, Dale Wood, Sam Walter and James Bergmuller.
In 2007 GMR expanded its operations to not only be running Carrera Cup but also into the Fujitsu Series Championship and Australian GT Championship.
We currently run two of our own VE Commodores for the Fujitsu V8 Supercars with drivers Steve Owen and Daniel Jilesen, as well as a VZ Commodore for Geoff Emery. We prepare two Lamborghini Gallardo GT3’s for the Australian GT Championship with drivers Peter Hill and Simon Middleton, a Tarmac Rally car for John O’Dowd as well as a Commodore Cup car for Tony Bates.
